What is Spikenard?Spikenard oil is extracted from Nardostachys jatamansi from the Valerianaceae family and is also known as "false" Indian valerian root. Itīs aroma is warm, misty and heavy. It is pale yellow in color and medium in viscosity. Today it is used mainly for making incense sticks. Medicinal uses: Spikenard oil can be effective for tension, stress, migraine, nervous indigestion and insomnia. It seems to have rejuvenating qualities especially for the mature skin, and can help with allergies, skin inflammations and rashes. Spikenard is used to shorten labor and to ease childbirth, reduces uric acid, and is often used in cough syrups.
